Licensing the open editions

The text itself is in the public domain. You don’t need anything from me to use it.

My edition is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. Without asking me, you may:

• copy it, print it and sell it, including as a paperback on Amazon or anywhere else;
• adapt it: add your own notes, cut it into a course reader, convert it to another format.

There are two conditions. Credit the edition, for example “Edition by Tymofii Shustov, library.tshustov.com”, in a reasonable place. And release your adaptation under the same licence, so others can reuse it in the same way.

For most readers, teachers and seminaries that is all you need.

On other terms, for a fee

Sometimes share-alike doesn’t fit. You may want to:

• publish your own edition with your notes and introduction under your own copyright;
• build a module for Logos, Accordance or another platform under its licence;
• give students a course reader with your corrections without opening it up;
• use a shorter credit: one line in the colophon instead of a visible credit.

I can grant a licence for that. It is not exclusive: the open edition stays free for everyone, and I never sell exclusive rights.

Removing the credit completely is possible to ask about, but I rarely agree. The credit is the reason these editions exist.
